Community members

Community members can find a variety of activities, such as cooking groups and supermarket tours that teach them about nutrition and buying healthy food on a budget and/or physical activities such as walking groups, and indoor and outdoor exercise classes.

The Healthy Living Network lists programs and activities that can help reduce the risk of chronic disease. You might want to talk to a health professional for advice on what types of programs might suit you and use the Healthy Living Network to find suitable activities in your local area.

All the information you need to attend the activity is listed on the Network, such as contact details, location, dates, times and a map.

Health Professionals

The Healthy Living Network is a useful tool for Health Professionals to support community members to find suitable healthy living activities in their local area. There are a range of activities listed on the Network such as walking groups, diabetes programs, cycling education groups and nutrition programs that can be beneficial for people at risk of developing chronic disease and as a self management tool.

The Healthy Living Network also offers a mix of registered providers that are responsible for delivering activities. These providers have demonstrated that they are able to offer services that are well planned, outcome focused, minimising risks to the participant and are delivered by suitably qualified facilitators.

The Healthy Living Network details all relevant information relating to an activity including location, cost, provider and the duration. This information can be easily obtained and the location map for the activity is able to be printed and given to the community member.

Alternatively, if you or your colleagues are running programs locally then the Healthy Living Network is a fantastic step to formalising the quality of the program and increase sustainability and promotion.
